functional description

As a Software Systems Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, integrating, and optimizing software systems to deliver exceptional performance and user experiences. Your responsibilities will encompass a variety of strategic and technical tasks.

  • Leading and performing overall software design so it meets functional, performance, and interface requirements, and integrates with external systems hardware, software, and users.
  • Establishes and enforces design patterns and coding standards.
  • Oversee software system verification and validation, as well as configuration management.
  • Allocates requirements to elements within the software system using model-based engineering designs and methods or other acceptable techniques.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and the ability to apply systems thinking to software design and integration.
  • Proven experience in leading and performing software design to meet functional, performance, and interface requirements, integrating with external systems, hardware, software, and users.
  • Proficiency in establishing and enforcing design patterns, coding standards, and best practices to ensure consistency, maintainability, and scalability of software systems.
  • Experience in overseeing software system verification and validation processes, ensuring that software meets defined requirements and quality standards.
  • Knowledge of configuration management practices and tools to track software changes, version control, and ensure the integrity of software artifacts.
  • Familiarity with model-based engineering (MBE) designs and methods for allocating requirements to software elements and ensuring traceability.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, software developers, systems architects, and other stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for documenting software designs, presenting technical information, and collaborating with team members.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Software Systems Engineer, Systems Engineer, or similar role with a focus on designing and integrating software systems.
  • Proficiency in software development languages and technologies.
  • Experience in integrating software systems with external hardware, software, sensors, and user interfaces to create holistic solutions.
  • Familiarity with software design tools, modeling languages, and methodologies to streamline the design process.
  • Understanding of software performance optimization techniques to ensure efficient and responsive software systems.
  • Ability to lead and guide software design teams, provide technical leadership, and mentor junior engineers.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive innovation and apply emerging technologies to enhance software system design and performance.
  • A master’s or doctoral degree in a relevant field is a plus.
