functional description

Network Administrator is a member of the Network Operations Team, supporting hardware, software and applications comprising the Network Infrastructure.

  • Analyzing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and repairing network switches, routers, wireless access points, firewall appliances, and other network devices.
  • Developing and supporting client packages for VPN and providing assistance for DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, IP Address Management System, and perimeter security actions.
  • Supporting network upgrades, new product rollouts, and other network-related initiatives.
  • Responding to alerts, events, and customer-reported issues within established service level agreements and resolving significant matters with independent judgment.
  • Conducting testing, monitoring, repairing and troubleshooting of moderate to complex platforms, operating systems, networks, and applications.
  • Evaluating, testing, and documenting current network technology baseline for both hardware and software to determine moderate to complex networking needs. In the process of the Delivery to Operations, participates in the testing of the technology to be deployed internally for various networks.
  • Documenting and tracking moderate to complex reported matters of significance where assigned; ensures matters have been resolved as appropriate and in accordance with established service agreements or procedures.
  • Maintains knowledge of new and enhanced applications being developed and the respective platforms; monitors, analyzes and understands change management environment to enhance problem resolution capabilities.
  • Initiates and oversees moderate to complex service restoration processes to expedite problem resolution; monitors process and resolves any matters of significance in order to ensure completion in accordance with established service agreements.
  • Oversees and conducts the implementation of moderate to complex application, system or network changes; conducts testing to ensure installation meets appropriate standards and procedures.
  • Providing technical assistance, training, and mentorship to less experienced personnel.
  • Oversee projects to ensure shift or team adheres to established timeframes; identifies matters of significance and resolves as appropriate.
  • Participates in the planning process to develop goals and objectives for the department. Provides input and feedback to create established goals.
  • Collaborating within the Network Operations Team to provide end-user support and deliver top-notch solutions.
  • Handling escalated issues and responding to outages in adherence to specified service metrics.
  • Participating in an on-call rotation team to provide after-hours support for our 24×7 network.

Requirements:

  • Strong technical proficiency in network administration, including analyzing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and repairing network devices such as switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting abilities to diagnose and resolve network-related issues, both independently and collaboratively.
  • Knowledge of perimeter security actions, firewall appliances, and VPN technologies to ensure network security and data integrity.
  • Previous experience supporting network upgrades, new product rollouts, and network-related initiatives.
  • Proven ability to respond to alerts, events, and customer-reported issues within established service level agreements and independently resolve significant matters.
  • Proficiency in documenting network-related matters, issues, resolutions, and changes according to established procedures.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a network administrator, network engineer, or similar role with hands-on experience in maintaining and troubleshooting network infrastructure.
  • Relevant certifications.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automating network tasks and configurations.
  • Understanding of change management processes and best practices for implementing network changes while ensuring stability and security.
  • Ability to provide technical assistance, training, and mentorship to less experienced personnel, contributing to team growth and development.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaborating within the team, providing end-user support, and documenting network-related activities.
