functional description

As a DEVOPS Engineer, you will be at the forefront of architecting, deploying, and maintaining highly available and resilient systems.

  • Develops, integrates, deploys and operates highly available and resilient systems that support the infrastructure business or mission systems and applications, as well as public facing applications or websites.
  • Will gather requirements, design, make recommendations, integrate, test and deploy reliable, scalable, real-time (or near-real time) applications.
  • Overseeing small teams working with creative solutions to IT issues and promoting automation of repetitive tasks where possible to enhance efficiency and productivity.
  • Will work with System Architect, System Administrators, Developers, Vendors, Solution Architects, Application Specialists, Disaster Recovery, and Storage teams.
  • DEVOPS Engineer will utilize Docker and Jenkins deployment technologies, as well as configuration management tools such as SaltStack, Puppet and Chef.
  • They must use industry-testing standards and established protocols for testing in highly available, resilient and secured environments.
  • Employing source control repositories (e.g., Git, subversion), databases (e.g., MS SQL, Oracle, MySQL), markup languages (e.g., JSON, YAML, XML), and programming languages (e.g., C++, PHP, Python) to deliver robust solutions.
  • DEVOPS Engineer will work with Unix or Linux Kernels, shell, networking and cybersecurity; and should be able to present to audiences for milestone reviews and general communications.
  • Solve highly complex problems relating to mission critical services and develop automation to prevent the recurrence of problems in mission-critical services and applications.
  • Deploying applications in highly available configurations, including Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, and hybrid cloud setups.
  • Maximize utilization of cloud services like S3, Glacier and other relevant tools.
  • Designing, testing, and overseeing the deployment of auto provisioning and de-provisioning in resilient and highly available environments.
  • Developing, mitigating and tracking risks associated with highly available or publicly facing apps and websites.
  • Contributing to the creation of new designs, architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale distributed systems.

Certifications / Other
